As a trauma-informed TRE Provider® & Therapeutic Coach™, Kit loves helping people change how they deal with overwhelm, burnout, stress or trauma.
When I was 24 my life as I knew it fell apart. I was in a toxic relationship with an alcoholic, I was in a job I hated and my beloved Gran had just died. A catalogue of unfortunate events led to me being overpowered by 6 male police officers and sectioned. It seemed like I’d lost my mind and my freedom.
I’d come from a stable, loving family … how could this have happened to me?
I didn’t know it then, but this was the beginning of my healing journey over 25 years ago.
I wanted to change my stress patterns I’d been running on repeat for years. I no longer wanted to live with anxiety, depression, and exhaustion being such a big part of my life. I wanted to get off the emotional rollercoaster I was experiencing. I knew that I could no longer approach life in the same way I’d been living it. I had to learn a different way to find my way back to being OK no matter what life was throwing at me.
I wanted to understand what had happened to me, why I seemed unable to cope with life, and felt driven to explore resilience and trauma at a deeper level.
My drive to learn about the impact of trauma on the mind and body led me to TRE® and I completed my TRE® certified provider qualification in December 2020.
Studying chronic stress and trauma from a physiological, psychological, emotional, and neurological perspective helped me to discover practical ways on how to recognise my own symptoms. I began to learn how I could use my body to shift my nervous system state from being stuck in fight/flight/freeze/fawn to the state of flow. Moving from dysregulation to a regulated nervous system.
Never did I think I’d learn such fundamentally transformational principles and practices that could shift my state so quickly and consistently. It was the missing piece I’d been looking for.
My interest in using the body to help calm the mind, led me to deepen my learning and I went on to study the subconscious mind with a diploma in clinical hypnotherapy, NLP and Life Coaching and became a Certified Therapeutic Coach™ in January 2024.
I have combined my learning of TRE® and Therapeutic Coaching™ into my 5Rs of Wellbeing model and use this as my approach to the healing journey.
Life still happens and I will continue to get stressed, worry, and be frustrated at times, but with these tools, I’m more able to come back to balance quicker than I’ve ever done before and that’s down to my increased resilience.
My mission is to help as many people as possible to realise that you don’t have to be a slave to your emotions, that you can learn to build resilience and release the emotional charge trauma holds in the body, through a range of practical tools and techniques.
