Subconscious

Exploring the subconscious mind and your inner world

“The subconscious is where all your bad habits and behaviours that you want to change reside.

Joe Dispenza

In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it’s easy to overlook the power of our subconscious mind and the profound impact it has on our overall well-being. Our inner world, often hidden beneath the surface, plays a crucial role in shaping our experiences and responses to the world around us. Exploring and understanding this hidden realm can play an essential part in healing trauma, emotional overwhelm, burnout, and stress.

The subconscious mind is like a vast ocean, containing memories, beliefs, emotions, and patterns that influence our thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and perceptions. It holds the imprints of past experiences, both positive and negative, that continue to shape our present reality.

These imprints are stored in our subconscious as representations of what we experienced at that time, from a child’s limited perspective, and it’s this representation that becomes the landscape of our inner world.

Exploring our inner world involves delving into the depths of our subconscious mind to uncover and address these outdated imprints. By shining a light on our subconscious beliefs, fears, and relationship with that experience, we can begin the process of healing and transformation. This journey of self-discovery allows us to unravel the tangled web of emotions and thought patterns that may be holding us back from living a fulfilling and balanced life.

Accessing and exploring the subconscious mind can be done through practices such as meditation, mindfulness, journaling, and therapy that taps into the felt sense; a bottom-up approach (such as hypnotherapy, Therapeutic Coaching™, TRE®, EFT, Somatic-Experiencing, and parts work [also known as IFS or shadow work or subpersonalities]).

These techniques help us cultivate self-awareness, presence, and a deeper connection with our inner selves. By creating a safe space to explore our thoughts and emotions, we can start to unravel the layers of conditioning and programming that no longer serve us.

Trust the subconscious mind to heal you. It knows much more than your conscious mind about healing and restoring you to perfect balance.

Healing trauma, burnout, and stress requires a holistic approach that addresses the mind, body, and spirit. By integrating the wisdom of our subconscious mind into our healing journey, we can tap into our innate resilience and capacity for transformation. As we release outdated beliefs and patterns, we make room for new insights, perspectives, and ways of being that support our growth and well-being.  I like to think of it as spring cleaning our inner world.

In the process of exploring our inner world, we may encounter resistance, discomfort, and uncertainty. These are the parts of us that are misaligned with who we really are, they are still running old patterns and beliefs from when we were young and didn’t have the cognitive capacity to do something different in order to feel OK.  So they started to do a ‘job’ for us which may have given us some sort of relief at that time and will continue doing this ‘job’ until they get the update that they don’t need to do this for us anymore.

An example would be a 5-year-old child putting their hand up in class, asking a question and other classmates laughed.  In that moment 2 things could happen:

We are conditioned to dismiss and push away discomfort when it arises but in doing so we are missing an opportunity to explore what’s really driving it, because when we face discomfort, resistance and uncertainty with courage and compassion, we can truly heal, transform and thrive.

By embracing our parts and integrating all aspects of ourselves, we can cultivate a sense of wholeness, authenticity, and connect back into our inner peace.  You could call it soul retrieval of those parts of us that we’ve pushed away.

The subconscious mind and our inner world are deeply interconnected, holding the key to healing trauma, burnout, and stress. By embarking on a journey of self-exploration and self-discovery, we can uncover the hidden treasures within us and embark on a path of healing and transformation. Remember, the power to heal lies within you – trust the wisdom of your inner world and allow it to guide you on your journey towards wholeness and well-being.

My approach uses a combination of TRE®, body-based techniques, parts work and Therapeutic Coaching™ to access the subconscious and inner world.
